Our Success Story

When global leader, Albemarle started a A$1bn plant in W. Australia, sourcing temporary housing presented unique challenges.

Located 2 hours from the capital city, Perth (the most remote city in the world), employees are offered 60 days’ accommodation in Kemerton. Most moves were domestic with a family and often a pet on board too!

At A$250/night, a serviced apartment would cost A$15,000 per employee and there was no corporate accommodation willing to accept pets. The first VIP employee refused to move without his dog, so NEI needed a solution quickly. They contacted Woodhams for help.

We sourced and leased a furnished property on behalf of NEI. This both reduced the costs considerably and saw employees happily living in their new location. Woodhams continues to manage the property on behalf of NEI and Albemarle – including paying rent, utilities, managing cleaners, laundering and inspections.  The outgoing tenant simply leaves the keys on the kitchen table as they would in a serviced apartment.

This project had extremely high visibility with a ‘stop-go’ approach. Senior management in NEI and Albemarle were involved so it was critical that NEI could rely on Woodhams to ensure everything went smoothly. Despite the remoteness and time differences, we are always ready and available to support this VIP client. As a result of managing this property, Woodhams has assisted in ensuring Albemarle can transition its staff into regional Australia in a smooth and cost-effective way and provide reassurance that necessary due diligence has been followed.
